A look ahead to Saturday's game...

The Reds travel to the Recreation Ground on Saturday in their final game of pre-season before the 2016/17 campaign gets underway at home to Wycombe Wanderers next weekend.

Dermot Drummy’s men were 3-1 winners over Lewes at the Dripping Pan on Tuesday evening, and narrowly lost 3-2 at home to Millwall last Saturday.

Opposition Dugout:

The Shots recently re-appointed fan favourite Gary Waddock as First-Team Manager at the beginning of May. The former Republic of Ireland and QPR midfielder left his First Team Coach at Barnet to re-join his former club where he arguably made his name.

He previously led the Shots into the Football League in 2008, winning the Blue Square Premier title with a total of 101 points – at the time that was a record amount.

Similarly to the Reds, the hosts have had a busy summer in terms of recruitment – among the new faces is former Crawley player Shamir Fenelon – who made 33 appearances for the side last season.

We’ve Met Before:

The last time the two sides met was in the 2011/12 when both clubs found themselves in League Two. The first fixture during the campaign saw a Michael Doughty goal give the Reds a 1-0 victory at the Recreation Ground in September.

The reverse fixture in March saw a 2-2 stalemate – Aaron Morris put Aldershot ahead, before Gary Alexander equalised for the Reds from the spot. Visiting substitute Peter Vincenti put the Shots back into the lead before Billy Clarke struck late on, meaning the points were shared.
