Off the pitch update with Kelly Derham

Operations Director Kelly Derham's programme notes against Notts County on August 27.

Everyone at the club is delighted with the start Dermot and the team have made. It was always going to take time for a virtually new squad to gel and, from speaking to Dermot and Matt,

I’m aware that process is still going on. But so far so good, and I know they are trying to add one more player to the mix before the transfer deadline closes on Wednesday at 11pm.

Players get lauded by fans for their performances and rightly so. After all, they are the shop window of our club but I’d like to pay tribute today to our hardworking office staff, who have been absolutely fantastic over the last few months.

I think we’ve achieved as much since the end of last season, in terms of improving our facilities and making the Checkatrade Stadium more welcoming for everyone, than in the previous four years. It has only happened thanks to the hard work of our staff, many of whom are doing other roles as well as their main ones because they want to make Crawley Town better. They know who they are and I’d just like to thank each and every one of them for their efforts.

On our website earlier this week we launched a survey seeking your views on our matchday experience and what you like and don’t like about how we do things. Without your feedback we won’t know the areas where we need to improve so please take the time to fill it in and let us have your views.

An area where our two excellent interns, Alex and Tom, are working on is the relaunch of Junior Reds which we’re targeting for the week before our next home League 2 game against Luton Town on September 17. The Luton game will also be when we are aiming to provide some new half-time entertainment which, if nothing else, will make you laugh!

As I have mentioned before, there are areas which we need to work on but please bear with us because we want to make sure the improvements we carry out are permanent and not short-term fixes.

Finally, my thanks to all the sponsors and partners who are backing the club this season. There has certainly been a surge in interest in the last couple of weeks from local and national companies who want to be associated with the Reds, no doubt helped by our excellent start to the season. If you would like to be involved, please contact our Commercial Sales Manager Graham Wright and he will be happy to explain what’s available and how the club can help promote your business.

I look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday when we take on Colchester in the Checkatrade Trophy.
