A look ahead to Tuesday's game

The Overview:

A trip The Valley on Tuesday night in the second game of the Checkatrade Trophy is the next task for Dermot Drummy’s side – who are unbeaten in their last four matches.

The Reds’ first game in the competition ended in a 1-0 win – a first half header from James Collins was enough to give Drummy’s men a win over Colchester United that sent them to the top of Southern Group E.

The Quotes:

“We’re really looking forward to it – it gives me a chance to give others some minutes on the pitch,” Dermot Drummy.

“It’s a great chance and a great experience in a big stadium,” Bobson Bawling.

The One to Watch:

Johnnie Jackson is a club stalwart and already has three league goals to his name this season.  The versatile midfielder has been with the club since 2010 and has become a fan favourite and captain for the side.

Jackson has made over 200 appearances for the Addicks in all competitions and scored over 50 goals for the club.

The Opposition:

Charlton’s relegation to League One last season saw the club return to the third tier of English football after being promoted from the same division at the end of the 2011/12 season.

They’ve made a slow start to the season and come into the contest without a win in seven matches. Their two victories in the league came with victories over Shrewsbury Town (3-0) and Walsall (1-2) - they beat Southampton U23's on penalties in their first group game of this competition.
