A look ahead to Saturday's game

An in-depth look at Saturday's game with Accrington Stanley.

The Overview:

Crawley Town host Accrington Stanley at the Checkatrade Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking for their fourth home league win of the 2016/17 season.

The Reds tasted their first defeat in six matches in all competitions last time out – falling to a 2-1 defeat to Cheltenham Town last weekend.

A late goal from Kaby Djalo – his first for the club, was not enough to earn the Reds a pint having fallen 2-0 behind in Gloucestershire.

Saturday’s Lancashire opponents occupy seventh position in the table coming into the game and triumphed 2-1 at home to Blackpool last weekend.

The Quotes:

Dermot Drummy.“The winning mentality and the determination to win, along with the disappointment when you don’t, is something I want to breed here.”

Lewis Young.“It’s nice to make the landmark and it’s been nice to get a consistent run of games.”

The Opposition:

John Coleman’s side suffered defeat in the play-off semi-finals at the hands of AFC Wimbledon at the end of last season – and have started the current campaign strongly.

However, it did take a while for the side to get their league campaign up and running, as they won just one of their first six league matches.

Since then, the side have lost just one of their last seven in EFL Two and have notched up wins against Notts County, Portsmouth, Colchester United and the afore mentioned Blackpool last weekend.

The Previous Meetings:

The last time the two sides met was in February earlier this year as the Reds fell to a 4-1 away defeat. During the game, Reds midfielder Simon Walton was dismissed in the second period.

Mark Yates’ men had taken the lead in the contest through Gwion Edwards’ first half goal.

The meeting in RH11 last season ended in a 3-0 win for Coleman’s side – goals from Josh Windass, Billy Kee and Matt Crooks gave the visitors the three points.

More fond memories of games between the two clubs are likely to involve the 1-0 away win the Reds secured in May 2012 as they sealed promotion to League One on the final day of the 2011/12 campaign.

The Officials:

Mr Brendan Malone will be in charge of the game with John Coleman’s men on Saturday. The Wiltshire based official has refereed games involving the Reds on 16 previous occasions.
