Defender back with the squad

Defender Josh Yorwerth has been recalled from his loan spell with Southern League Merthyr Town.

The 21-year-old joined the Southern League club in October and was due to have stayed until January 4.

But after scoring twice in eight appearances for the Martyrs he is back at the Checkatrade Stadium and is due to train with the squad today. although he won't be able to face Bristol Rovers on Tuesday under the registration rules of the competition.

Joe McNerney goes into hospital today for minor knee surgery, which will keep him out for 2-3 weeks.

And Reds suffered another defensive blow against Cambridge United on Saturday when Mark Connolly had to go to hospital after taking a heavy blow to his windpipe. He was detained overnight before being allowed to return home on Sunday. His condition will be assessed later today.

His departure at the end of the first half meant Addison Garnett came on to make his League debut.
