Rhys is a Red again

Murphy joins on loan until the end of the season

Crawley Town are delighted to announce that we have signed striker Rhys Murphy on loan until May 31 from National League Forest Green Rovers.

Shoreham-born Rhys is a familiar face to Crawley fans, having scored nine goals in 16 appearances on loan from Oldham Athletic last season.

At the end of the campaign he left the Latics to join Forest Green and scored seven goals in 17 appearances before he had a spell on loan with another National League outfit York City.

Head Coach Dermot Drummy knows Rhys well, having worked with him during his time in Arsenal’s academy, and believes he will be a valuable addition to the squad.

Dermot said: “For us and Rhys this move should work out very well.

“I know his qualities from my time working with Arsenal. He’s a goalscorer – as he proved when he was here last season when he was very popular with our supporters.

“He is looking to play more regular games and with the busy programme we’ve got coming up he will get that opportunity. I’m looking forward to him making a big impression with us for the rest of this season.”

Rhys will wear shirt no.39, the same he had last season.
