"Three pleasing performances"

16 February 2017

Key points from Thursday's pre Morecambe press conference

Dermot Drummy was full of praise for the last three away performances by his side - culminating in Tuesday evening's win over Colchester United.

The Reds travelled north to Blackpool last Tuesday and then to Luton Town last Saturday before the midweek clash with the U's in Essex.

"They were three pleasing performances - the draw at Blackpool show we were tactically assured, we took the game to Luton and should have got a result," he said on Thursday morning.

"Then to go one down on Tuesday - the lads showed a lot of character. Jimmy's hat-trick was a special night for him and it gives us a lot of confidence going forward now.

"Jimmy's goalscoring and the opportunities is because of him playing higher up the field - he's timing his runs well and getting into he box with midfield security behind him with the likes of Conor (Henderson).

"His finish for the second goal was sublime - and playing through the thirds and build up play is suitng his well timed runs at the moment."

The Head Coach also provided an injury update for the squad ahead of the weekend's game against Jim Bentley's Morecambe.

"Matt (Harrold) is still looking like March for a return and we have to be careful with that.

"He'll go back to St George's Park for another reassessment soon.

"Joe (McNerney) tweaked his hamstring and as a caution we rested him. They're where you have to be careful because if you don't get it right you can be out for a long time.

"But the lads who have come in have done really well - that's great for me and will be vital in this busy period - continuing on Saturday against Morecambe."
