A look ahead to Saturday's game with the Mariners

Reds return to action at the Checkatrade Stadium on Saturday when we take on Grimsby Town in Sky Bet EFL 2, kick off 3pm.

The Reds fell to a 3-1 defeat at Mansfield Town last Saturday and will be keen to return to winning ways.

The Quotes:

"They are a good side under a new manager with some excellent recent results behind them, but our home form this season has been pretty good overall and it's a game we are looking forward too after a good week of preparation. The lads are refreshed and can't wait for Saturday.” – Dermot Drummy.

The Opposition:

Grimsby come into the contest occupying sixth position in the table following their promotion from the Vanarama Conference via the play-offs at Wembley last season.

Life back in the Football League got off to the perfect start on the opening day with a 2-0 home win over Morecambe and their next win for former manager Paul Hurst came at the end of August with an eye-catching 5-2 victory over Stevenage at Blundell Park.

Hurst left to take over Shrewsbury Town in October, and Bignot was appointed at the beginning of this month after making the move from Solihull Moors, with whom he won promotion the previous season to Conference National.

An impressive 3-0 away win at league leader Plymouth Argyle and a hard-fought 2-2 draw with unbeaten Carlisle United on Tuesday show they’ll be tough opposition for the Reds on Saturday.

Team News:

Defenders Mark Connolly and Alex Davey are back in contention for selection – as is striker Adi Yussuf after he had to miss last Saturday’s game against his parent club.

The History

This will be only the third meeting between the clubs and first in the Football League. In Reds' 2010-11 Conference title winning season the Mariners won 1-0 on the opening day of the season when Crawley had goalkeeper Michel Kuipers sent off. The game at Blundell Park in February 2011 finished goalless.
