Reds defender speaks to matchday programme about international debut

The defender spoke to Alex Stedman about his international debut for Kenya last year in Saturday's programme.

Ask Josh Lelan what his greatest achievement in football is so far and you’d naturally expect to find last season’s promotion with Northampton Town to feature at the top of the list.

But speaking to the Midlands born full-back, his international debut for Kenya evidently stands out just as much, if not more.

Until the former Derby County man arrived on an 18-month contract last month – Kaby Djalo held the title for the only player to have represented his country at senior level – now, Reds have doubled their international appearance makers tally.

“That was a really great feeling and a proud moment for me and my whole family."

“I’m dual nationality so when the manager rang me towards the end of summer last year and offered me the opportunity it was one I didn’t hesitate to take.

“The feeling of wearing an international jersey and hearing the national anthem is something I’ll never forget.

“The aim was to make that appearance then focus on getting my club career stable – I feel like I’ve done that now with the contract I’ve signed here.”
