Marvin: Let's bounce back

23 September 2014

Midfielder looking forward to home debut for Crawley Town

Marvin Elliott can't wait to make his first appearance in front of the Crawley Town fans on Saturday against a club he is fairly familiar with.

Marvin spent part of pre-season with our visitors Yeovil Town and he even scored in a friendly against Dorchester.

But the Glovers did not offer him a contract and a few weeks later Marvin has linked up with Reds and made an eye-catching debut on Saturday in the 2-0 loss at Preston.

He said: "I knew their manager Gary Johnson from when he was at Bristol City and I went down there but unfortunately it didn't work out.

"But that's all history now. I am a Crawley Town player and I'm looking forward to playing in front of our fans for the first time on Saturday. It will be a difficult game but we are at home and the onus is on us to get a result and I'm sure we can."

Considering it was his first 90 minutes for seven months, Marvin was pleased with how his debut went and believes he has a lot more to offer.

"I felt it towards the end but I am pleased the Gaffer kept me on because 90 minutes is great for me personally to help build match fitness," he added. "I thought for large parts of the game we did well and we created some good chances. The only difference between the teams was that they were more clinical in the final third.

"Talking to the boys, I think we're still gelling as a team. There are loads of new faces and four more have arrived in the last fortnight but we have got some good players here and we are definitely capable of climbing up the table and hopefully that will start on Saturday. There is a very positive feel in the squad."
