Steve Coppell delighted to confirm Richie as new manager
Director of Football Steve Coppell was delighted to confirm Richie Barker as the new manager of Crawley Town.
Barker, 37, was announced as Sean O’Driscoll’s replacement today and Steve is pleased that Reds have got their man.
Speaking on what Richie would bring to the club, Steve said: “We hope successful qualities. You look at a manager much the same way you look at a player.
“We look at his previous track record and the direction he’s going to give to this club. You do a check with people he has worked with and as much homework as you can.”
And Steve also praised Richie’s former employer Bury. He added: “Things have to be done in a proper way. Bury aren’t happy to be losing their manager.
“Richie’s family live not far from here so they (Bury) accept it’s being done for proper reasons.
“We’ve done everything by the board and thankfully we have got our man.
“He’s got to get to know the players so that the team and the squad can have real direction and purpose.”
