Reds face seven new League opponents next season
Reds now know who they will be facing in League Two next season after Southend’s penalty win in the play-off final against Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley on Saturday.
League Two is not unfamiliar territory for the club of course and we have played all but seven of next season’s opponents before in the Football League.
And of the seven who we play in League football for the first time, Luton, Newport, York, Cambridge, Exeter City and Mansfield are familiar foes from our days in the Conference.
The full line-up for next season in League Two is:
Notts County
Leyton Orient
Crawley Town
Yeovil
Wycombe Wanderers
Stevenage
Plymouth
Luton Town
Newport County
Exeter City
Morecambe
Dagenham & Redbridge
Oxford United
Northampton Town
AFC Wimbledon
Portsmouth
Accrington Stanley
York City
Cambridge United
Carlisle United
Mansfield Town
Hartlepool
Barnet
Bristol Rovers
One thing welcomed by Reds’ fans who watch their team away from home is there are fewer long-distance trips next season.
No fewer than 17 of our opponents are based south of the midlands and although Carlisle and Hartlepool are mammoth journeys Reds’ fans will welcome trips to places like Oxford, Northampton and Wycombe Wanderers.
New grounds for seasoned travellers include Wycombe's Adams Park.
The fixtures for next season are released on Wednesday, June 17 and the new campaign kicks off on August 8.
