Clocking up the miles

How many miles will Reds fans travel next season? Find out here...

Fans following the Reds on the road to all 23 Sky Bet League Two away games next season will amass 7,964 miles over the course of the campaign.

The tally is just short of the 8,045 miles that fans clocked up following the side in League One during the 2014/15 season and a lot more than the 6,836 miles that they would have journeyed last season in this division.

As was the case last season, the shortest trip for fans will be the 113 miles to East London and back when the Reds face Leyton Orient – Mark Yates men succumbed to a 2-0 defeat on their last visit to the ground in February.

The longest away day for fans will be the 695 miles to travel to Carlisle United and back from Brunton Park, where the Reds lost 3-1 last season.

The relegated trio of Doncaster Rovers, Blackpool and Crewe bump up the mileage clock although the other relegated side Colchester United aren’t too far from home.

Coming up from the Vanarama National League are Cheltenham Town and Grimsby Town – the latter providing a 476 mile round trip for fans.

The second shortest trip for Reds is when they’ll head to the south coast to take on Portsmouth at Fratton Park – that journey is 114 miles there and back, one short of the total needed to get to Leyton Orient.

The League 2 fixtures will be released at 9am on Wednesday, June 22.
