Join the Checkatrade world record attempt

26 February 2015

Be part of the longest continuous football match at the Checkatrade.com Stadium in May

Fancy celebrating a goal at the Checkatrade.com Stadium just like Izale McLeod - and being part of a world record attempt at the same time?

Our stadium and East Stand sponsor Checkatrade.com hopes to smash the current Guinness World Records™ title for the ‘Longest marathon playing football’ with a gruelling match played continuously over 75 hours. It will take place at 9am Thursday, 14 May, and aims to finish at 12 noon Sunday, 17 May, here at Crawley Town.

The current record stands at 72 hours and was played between Stockport Albion and Manchester Rovers at Stretford High School, in Manchester from 2-5 May 2013.

Checkatrade.com is inviting men aged 18+ to apply to join its two teams, which will each consist of 11 players and seven substitutes as per the rules of the game. The rules allow multiple substitutions and short rest breaks, but there will be few opportunities to sleep and players cannot leave pitch side once the attempt begins.

For Crawley Town FC fans this is your chance to play at the Checkatrade.com stadium and become a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title holder!

Checkatrade.com MD Kevin Byrne will be at Crawley Town tomorrow during the MK Dons game to announce the attempt and answer any questions.

To apply and find out more visit www.checkaplayer.com. Entries close on March 7

Although Guinness World Records do not ask for payment to be part of the record title attempt, each player will be asked to pay a £60 administration fee to Checkatrade.com (to include your football shirt and welcome pack) and then raise a minimum £750 sponsorship. All proceeds will be divided between Chestnut Tree House and the Checkatrade Foundation.
