Warrilow returns as special guest on Saturday

We’re delighted to welcome back former Reds’ defender Tommy Warrilow to Saturday’s game against Dagenham & Redbridge as guest of the Former Players Association.

Big Tommy was a popular player at the club during the late 1980s when he formed a formidable central defensive partnership with Tony Vessey.

Tommy enjoyed a fine first season, captaining the side to sixth place and weighing in with six league goals. By the time he was sold to big-spending Hythe Town in February 1990, Tommy had been successfully deployed as a striker, netting ten times in cup competitions and 13 in all that season. Overall, he made 139 appearances, scoring 29 goals.

After retiring from the game Tommy took up management and had successful spells with Horsham, Cray Wanderers and Tonbridge Angels among others.

These days, he helps run a talent academy for West Ham United in his native Kent.

Tommy will be introduced to the crowd at half-time on Saturday so please give him a warm welcome back to the club!
