Interim Manager looks ahead to Saturday's game at the ABAX Stadium

We sat down with Interim Manager Dean Saunders ahead of Saturday's important Sky Bet League One game against Peterborough United at the ABAX Stadium.

Injury news …

Apart from Dean Leacock and Conor Henderson, who are out for the season, we have a fully fit squad. Josh Simpson will have benefitted from another week of training and Marvin Elliott is recovered. He got an infection in a shin injury but he’s raring to go for the last two games. Obviously we will miss Anthony Wordsworth now but Josh and Marvin are good options for us.

Peterborough …

They are good at home, they don’t lose many there, and it’s not going to be easy to get a result. I’m not too sure what side they will play. They might give some youngsters a go but whoever we play we are going to have to be at our best. We need a similar performance to the ones we produced at places like Swindon and Port Vale. Anything less and it will be a difficult afternoon for us.

The relegation battle …

The results on Tuesday with Orient and Notts County losing were great for us but the scenario is still a bit up in the air. We’d love to win tomorrow and be safe with a game to go but I think it’s probably going to be decided on the last day. There are so many different equations and possibilities but if you’d offered me this situation with two games to go when I came here I ‘d have taken it. We’ve had some setbacks but we’ve bounced back from them. We just need to produce two more big performances.

Pressure …

Of course there is pressure. Players in the team are playing for their futures, possible contracts. But we’ve prepared well this week. The players have been very focussed in training and in their preparation. They know what’s at stake over these last two games for themselves, their team-mates and the club and I’m confident they will give us two good performances.

Support from the stands …

I think we will travel with similar numbers to Colchester, which was a great afternoon when the support was brilliant. Our fans know the importance of the two games coming up and I know they will be there on Saturday giving us their backing. It’s up to us to give them something to make them feel proud of the players and their club.
