Ipswich midfielder joins on three-month loan

Reds are delighted to confirm the arrival of midfielder Anthony Wordsworth on a three-month loan from Ipswich Town.

The 26-year-old Londoner started his career at Colchester and scored 35 goals in 199 appearances for the U’s, one of his goals coming in the 1-1 draw against Crawley in September 2012.

Anthony joined Ipswich in February 2013 on a two-and-a-half year deal and played against Reds earlier this season in the Capital One Cup.

He has recently returned from a loan spell with Steve Evans’ Championship outfit Rotherham United (pictured below).

Manager Dean Saunders said: “I’m delighted Anthony has agreed to come here because he’s going to be a great addition to our squad in an area of the team we need to strengthen.

“He’s aggressive, mobile and he can bring goals to the team as well. I know he’s looking forward to a new challenge with us over the next three months and to be playing regularly in League One.”

Anthony is in the squad which will travel to Spotland to face Rochdale on Saturday.

Look out for an interview with our new signing shortly.
