Dack back as Assistant Manager

4 June 2015

Jimmy returns to club as No.2 to Mark Yates

Mark Yates has appointed ex-Reds’ midfielder Jimmy Dack as his Assistant Manager.

Jimmy, 43, played for the club during two spells in 1993-94 and 2001-02, making 93 appearances and scoring a total of 16 goals.

After a long playing career in non-league football he moved into coaching and in 2011 was appointed assistant to Newport County manager Justin Edinburgh.

The following season Newport were promoted back to the Football League after a 25-year absence via the Conference play-offs and when Edinburgh left to join Gillingham in February Jimmy stepped up to the role as manager, which he continued in until the end of the season.

Mark said: “I spoke to three or four candidates but within half an hour of talking to Jimmy I knew he was the right person for the club.

“He’s got a lot of experience of League Two and he’s a very good coach and a bubbly character who will be great around the training ground and the club. I’m delighted he’s agreed to join us and I look forward to working with him and helping to take the club forward.”

Jimmy said: “It’s amazing to think that 20 years after I played for the club I am back at Crawley Town as Mark’s assistant. The club’s rise into the Football League has been amazing and one I have followed closely and it is now great to be part of Crawley Town again in this role.

“I’m looking forward to working with Mark and the players and I can’t wait now for pre-season and to help get us prepared for the challenges of a new campaign.”
