Midfielder signs for Peterborough United

The club can confirm that Gwion Edwards has today left the club to sign for Peterborough United on a three-year contract for an undisclosed six-figure fee.

Gwion, who joined the club on loan from Swansea City before joining permanently in 2014, made 94 appearances for the club and scored 15 goals.

Head Coach Dermot Drummy said: “I spoke to Gwion about extending his contract beyond the end of next season but he made it clear he wanted a new challenge.

“It’s obviously disappointing to see him go because, even from the short time I worked with him, I could see his qualities. We wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his services with the club.

“It does mean that we have additional funds to invest in strengthening the squad and (assistant) Matt Gray and I are working hard on several potential signings at the moment as we prepare for the start of pre-season next week.”
