Interim Manager previews Saturday's big game at the Checkatrade.com Stadium

We caught up with Dean Saunders this morning ahead of the crucial home game against Notts County on Saturday.

Injury news

Darren Ward and Josh Simpson are back which is a real boost. We have missed Darren in the last four games and he has worked really hard to get fit again so soon.

Having Josh available is also a bonus and I wouldn’t have any problem throwing him in. He has a strong affinity with the club because he’s been here the longest and I know he’s desperate to do anything he can to make sure we’re in this division again next season.

Bouncing back

We’ve had two poor results and at this stage of the season it could have left us in real trouble, but no one around us has really been able to take advantage so it is still in our hands.

Walsall’s gone. As soon as we got on the bus on Tuesday we were already discussing Notts County. We’ve had setbacks before. I knew when I took the job we would lose games but we have a lot of experience in our dressing room and we normally show the right reaction. We need to do it on Saturday and I’m sure we can.

A six-pointer?

Three points for either side tomorrow could make the difference so my job is to make sure we go out there, stick to the game plan, do our jobs on the pitch and play without fear. We have some strong characters in our dressing room and we will need them in the last three games.

Notts County

They have a new manager and since Shaun Derry left they have stabilised things with four draws. I have watched them a few times this season and they have players who can hurt us, as all teams in this division have. But let’s worry about ourselves and making sure we get a performance out of our players. I’m sure their manager will be saying exactly the same.

Home Advantage

It’s obviously a big game for both clubs and I think that being at home will be a big thing for us. The crowd have been brilliant in the last few weeks. They realise the situation we’re in and that having a go at the players isn’t going to help anyone. They can see that we are all working our hardest to get results.
