Eight is great as youthful Reds hammer Lewes

A Crawley Town Development side comprehensively beat a youthful Lewes 8-0 at the Dripping Pan on Tuesday night.
 

Arron Wickham, Jonte Smith, Jon Dollery, Dan Evans and Louis John, who have all played for the first team this pre-season, were joined by two triallists and members of the under-18s.

It was John who opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a powerful header, before traillist Tom Vickers scored from long range. Evans volleyed home from Wickham’s through ball to make it 3-0 as half time approached.

Reds were rampant in the second half, as they completely outplayed the hosts.

Wickham scored a free kick from 30-yards to make it 4-0 just before the hour mark.

The midfielder turned provider again to tee up Smith who curled home to make it five before substitute Alex Laing scored with his first touch to make it 6-0.

Minutes later and Emmanuel Rowe had made it 7-0 with his first touch before Laing scored his second to round off the scoring from Dollery’s excellent cross.
