Reds sign Emmanuel

Defender joins on loan from Ipswich until January 2

Reds have today signed Ipswich Town defender Josh Emmanuel on loan until January 2.

The 18-year-old right back came through the Academy at Portman Road after joining the club from West Ham and such was the impression he made in pre-season that Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy awarded him a two-year contract in August.

Josh has made four starts and one substitute appearance for Ipswich this season and played alongside Josh Yorwerth, who is also on loan with Crawley from Ipswich, in their Capital One Cup tie at Manchester United in September.

Manager Mark Yates said: “Josh is highly regarded by Mick McCarthy and we’re delighted he has agreed to let us have him for what is going to be a busy period.

“He’s athletic and aggressive and I think he will adapt well to the rigours of League Two. We’d like to thank Ipswich for letting us have Josh.”

Josh will be in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Carlisle United and will wear squad number 23.
