Reds are delighted to confirm that Mike Jones has signed for the club from Championship club Sheffield Wednesday on a two-year contract.
The 25-year-old can play on either the right or in central midfield and links up again with boss Richie Barker, who was in charge for part of Mike's four-year spell with Bury.
Liverpool-born Jones started his career with Tranmere after progressing through their youth ranks. He made his first-team debut in May 2006 and played 10 games for Rovers and 13 on loan at Shrewsbury before joining Bury in 2008.
Mike established himself in the Shakers’ first team over the next four years and made nearly 150 appearances for Bury, scoring 19 goals.
His form attracted the interest of League One rivals Sheffield Wednesday who signed him for an undisclosed fee in January on a two-and-a-half year contract and he was part of the squad which won promotion to the Championship.
Mike has played 11 times for the Owls including an appearance earlier in the season at Oldham in the Capital One Cup.
Mike said: "I'm delighted to be here. Crawley are a progressive club who have got used to success over the past couple of years and this is a great challenge for me at this stage of my career.
"I know Richie well, the way he works and the way he likes his teams to play and I'm looking forward to showing the Crawley fans what I can do."
Richie said: “Mike is a player I know extremely well and I’m delighted to have him on board.
“He’s versatile in so much that he can play in central midfield or on the right-hand side so he will bring competition for places in an important area of the pitch.
“He is a fantastic pro and a very skillful individual and I’m sure he is going to be very popular with our supporters.”
