Gaffer on Reds' defeat to Portsmouth
Reds boss Richie Barker praised the efforts of his side, despite the defeat to Portsmouth this afternoon.
Even after Josh Simpson’s first half sending off, Reds still more than matched their opposition and that pleased Richie. Reds were only undone once down to nine men after Hope Akpan’s dismissal.
“We couldn’t (see Pompey scoring), I thought the lads were extremely disciplined,” he said.
“We set out something at half time and I thought the players were fantastic.
“For the first 40 minutes, when we had the same number of players, it was only a matter of time.
“We were in control of the game until the referee intervened.
“There’s nothing we can do now though, we showed some great determination today and hopefully we can take that with us.”
