Boss reflects on Preston success on Reds Player
Boss Richie Barker was delighted with his team's performance after they moved into fourth place in League 1 with a 2-1 success at Preston North End.
Preston had been unbeaten at home and defeated two Championship sides in the Capital One Cup at Deepdale so far this season but they could have few complaints after Gary Alexander's second-half double made Paul Huntington's injury-time strike for the hosts a mere consolation.
Barker said: "We worked on specific things in training because we knew what to expect from Preston and the players carried out the game plan really well.
"We grew into the game and I was disappointed when half-time came in a way because we had the momentum at that stage.
"But we got two great goals in the second half. I'm delighted for Gaza who has worked hard in recent games when things haven't quite come off for him but that was the Gary Alexander I used to play against. They were two superb goals but the team performance was outstanding."
Reds are back on the road on Tuesday when they visit Colchester United and the message from the boss will be 'more of the same.'
He added: "It's been a good day and we will enjoy the result tonight but the focus will soon switch to another tough game on Tuesday when hopefully we can produce a similar type of performance."
