Crawley Town make the relatively short journey tomorrow (Saturday) to face second placed Stevenage Borough for more Blue Square Premier action.
Borough have been in sparkling form recently and that was never more evident than the midweek demolition of Eastbourne Borough. Mitchell Cole got himself a hat trick after coming on as a substitute and is likely to start against the Reds.
Steve Evans will watch on as Captain Adam Quinn, Ben Smith, Lewis Killeen and Simon Rusk all undertake late fitness tests prior to kick off.
Steve said; “We have four lads who we want to look at on Saturday to see if they are fit for selection. My main concern is Adam Quinn and perhaps to a lesser degree Ben Smith but we will wait and see.
“Stevenage are a team full of quality players. You only have to look at the depth in their squad, they had the likes of Long, Cole and Odhiambo on the bench at Eastbourne in midweek, those players need no introduction from me as the likes of Cole and Long would start in any Blue Square Premier team.
“The pressure to win is all on Borough because they will still believe they can catch Oxford United at the top, I am not surprised they believe that because I certainly do and this is based on the quality of squad that Manager Graham Westley has put in place. Many may take the view that he has the resources to have done this but it takes much more than just money to put a squad like Graham has assembled at Broadhall Way, he deserves enormous credit.
“Borough also have a great support behind them when they play at home so we will also have to overcome that.
“We travel to Broadhall Way in good form and our lads will play with great confidence. I have no option other than to make a late team selection as I want to give every one of our players the opportunity to declare themselves fit for action.
“What I do know is that we will play an attacking game of football and try and pass our way through the opposition, it will not be an easy afternoon but it is one we are all looking forward to. We need to get ourselves a positive result if we are to remain in contention for an end of season play off spot, what the lads are achieving this season is simply fantastic, they are great to work with.”
The action gets underway at Broadhall Way at 3pm.
