Sergio helps Chestnut Tree House

Midfielder donates book proceeds to club's charity partner

Sergio Torres is supporting Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice by donating some of the proceeds from his book to the charity.

Sergio first visited Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex, Christmas 2012. He was so touched by the fantastic work they do that he decided to donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of his autobiography to the hospice.

Chestnut Tree House Corporate Fundraiser, Terrina Barnes, visited the Stadium to gratefully receive the cheque for £232 from Sergio.

Sergio said: “I am a father myself and when I visited the hospice a couple of years ago I really was struck by how amazing the place is.

“Myself and some of the other players visited at Christmas and so brought some presents with us for the children. We were able to see how happy this made them and got to know them just a little bit.

“I am proud to be able to support Chestnut Tree House and am also thrilled that Crawley Town FC continue to support the charity as well.”

Terrina added: “On behalf of everyone at Chestnut Tree House, I would like to thank Sergio for his donation of £232. This amount of money will allow a child the chance to spend the day at the House and enjoy our fantastic facilities and range of activities, whilst giving mum and dad a break from the daily care they require.

“Crawley Town has been supporting Chestnut Tree House for around five years. Their continued support over the years has been fantastic and we look forward to continuing this relationship. Sergio’s support has also been outstanding and his book was also a really good read!”
