Reds sign goalkeeper Ashdown

29 August 2014

Jamie joins until December

Reds have today signed experienced goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown, 33, on a contract until the end of December.

Jamie has been a professional since 1998, when he started out at Reading, and is perhaps best known for his eight-year stint at Portsmouth during which time the club rose to the Premier League and won the FA Cup.

In a career which has also included spells with Bournemouth, Rushden & Diamonds and Leeds United, where Jamie spent the last three years, he has made more than 170 League and Cup appearances. He was released by Leeds in the summer and had stints with Blackburn Rovers and Doncaster Rovers in pre-season.

Manager John Gregory said: “Jamie is very experienced and is a great guy to have around a club because he is a very positive person who is still as motivated now as he was when he started out in the game."

You can hear from Jamie and manager John Gregory later today on the official website.
