90 minutes key for Miller

5 December 2014

Striker delighted with cup hat-trick as Reds build up to Bristol City test

Loan striker Shaun Miller was delighted with his first-half hat-trick in Wednesday’s Sussex Senior Cup win over Eastbourne United Association.

But more importantly Miller got 90 minutes under his belt, having joined the club on loan from Coventry last week to get more game time, having made most of his appearances for the Sky Blues this season from the bench.

He said: “It was just nice to get on the pitch and get some minutes and no matter who you’re playing against to score a hat-trick is always good for confidence. The real bonus was to get 90 minutes though.”

Shaun agreed that his three goals showcased his strength as a penalty box predator with all three being scored from close range.

“I like to do my work in the box and anticipate where the ball is going to drop,” he added. “I was pleased to get the three but should have got a few more in the second half. We were trying to walk it in at times but fair play to the opposition who made it hard for us in the second half.”

Reds are now preparing for their next game which in League One terms doesn’t come any tougher than the trip to leaders Bristol City at Ashton Gate on December 13.

“I played against them for Coventry earlier in the season and they were very strong. They had a couple of losses but won at Peterborough and are flying high again,” said Shaun.

“But we’re going there to hopefully give a good account of ourselves and show what we’re about. We’re unbeaten in six and if we could make it seven by getting a result it would set us up nicely for the Christmas fixtures.”
