Midfielder leads the way in Dave Haining award competition
The annual Dave Haining Trophy, which is presented to the player with the most votes in our man of the match poll, looks like being the closest yet.
After 23 league and cup games five players are separated by just four points with Gwion Edwards the current leader.
The Welsh midfielder has picked up 16 points including four man of the match nominations and leads from Joe Walsh and Izale McLeod, both on 14, Dean Leacock (13) and Lanre Oyebanjo (12).
We run a poll on the website and Reds Wall after every game inviting fans to vote for their choice. Three points go to the winner, two to second and one to third based on the number of votes each receives.
The competition was instigated in 2012 in memory of Dave Haining, who gave more than 40 years of service to the club as manager, player, coach and administrator.
