Jensen: We must stick together

The Beast looks ahead to Colchester test

Brian Jensen believes a united dressing room can help Reds return to winning ways.

Crawley entertain Colchester United (3pm) on Sunday and after a run of ten League games without a win Jensen knows how important it is to end 2014 with three points.

He said: “It’s difficult to smile and keep going when you’re down there near the bottom of the table but we have to.

“We aren’t even halfway through the season, there is still a lot of time for us to get out of the bottom four and climb the table.

“The key is for us to stick together as a group of players. There is still a good spirit among the boys and we still believe in ourselves.”

Reds conceded two late goals at Leyton Orient on Boxing Day in the 4-1 defeat but it’s how we start games which will be the key to climbing the table, according to the Beast.

“We need to score first in a game and build on that – getting our noses in front can make a massive difference," he added.

“We have a quick turnaround for Sunday’s game but I think it’s a good thing that we have the opportunity to get the loss out of our system from Boxing Day.”

Brian paid tribute to the 242 fans who travelled to East London on Boxing Day and is confident they will stay with the players on Sunday.

“The fans were magnificent and we will need them to be our 12th man,” he said. “It’s easy being a fan when you are top of the league but I think our supporters will stick with us and we’ll be trying to give them something to shout about against Colchester.”
