Reds visit East Surrey Hospital

Players spread some festive cheer with children

Reds' players made a visit to the Outwood Ward at East Surrey Hospital in the build-up to Christmas to meet the children and spread some festive cheer.

Mascot Reggie the Red and members of our Community Department were also in attendance as the players enjoyed meeting the youngsters and hospital staff.

Skipper Joe Walsh said: “We were delighted to go to East Surrey Hospital, meet the children and hand out some Christmas presents.

“For players with children of their own Christmas is a special time of year but we can never forget kids who are less fortunate and who are overcoming illness in hospital.

The nursing staff at the East Surrey Hospital do a fantastic job and I think we made some new fans among the staff and kids. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.”

The children loved meeting the footballers and it was lovely to see their smiling faces as they chatted to the players.  Joanne Farrell, Matron on Outwood ward, said:

"We all really appreciate them giving up their time to visit our young patients.”
