Alexander leaves Reds

31 January 2014

Striker signs for Burton Albion

The club can confirm that striker Gary Alexander is leaving Crawley Town to join League Two Burton Albion until the end of the season.

Gary, who joined Reds in March 2012, made 73 appearances for Reds and scored 17 goals and was part of the promotion-winning League Two side in 2012.

Manager John Gregory said: “Gary was out of contract here at the end of the season and going to Burton gives him an opportunity to impress up at a club trying to win promotion into League One.

“At this stage of his career he is looking for stability and we wish him all the very best.

“During my time as manager he has been a fantastic professional and great presence in the dressing room and I’m sure I speak for my predecessors in that regard as well.”

Gary said: “I have had two great years at Crawley and winning promotion was one of the highlights of my career. It is a fantastic club and I will miss everyone here including the other lads and of course the fans.

“All being well I can help Burton get promoted and we’ll have another look at things in the summer. But I’d like to wish everyone at Crawley all the best.”
