Defender on start of pre-season training at Crawley Town

New Reds left back Ryan Dickson is looking forward to kicking off the new Crawley era when John Gregory’s men travel to Billingshurst on July 11th.

Dickson, an experienced defender, joined the Reds last month after spending the last campaign at divisional rivals Colchester United and can’t wait for the games to come thick and fast.

“We’ve got some good pre-season fixtures coming up,” Ryan explained. “The friendlies seem to have come round pretty quick and I can’t wait to get the first game out of the way and get back into the swing of things.”

With the first week of pre-season training done and dusted, the former Southampton man admits he has been impressed with his first few days at the club.

He added: “It’s been a good start with the boys. We’ve just started to get to know each other and on the training pitch we’re already starting to gel, which is a good thing and the standard has been very good too. Everyone seems to be getting along pretty well - we’ve all come together and the banter’s already been decent.

“The first few days was fitness testing which went really well - Niall Clark is obviously a top man at his job and it’s been very well organised. The last couple of days have been really enjoyable with the ball at our feet - we’d rather that than the running but it still needs to be done.”
