Boss reflects on 9-0 win over Billingshurst in pre-season friendly

John Gregory was delighted with his side’s performance as they kicked off pre-season with a 9-0 win over Billingshurst in front of a crowd of 650 at the Jubilee Fields.

Connor Henderson and trialist Emmet O’Connor both scored twice with Matt Harrold, Luke Young, Izale McLeod, Jake Kempson and Ryan Noble also on target.

The win rounded off a good day for the boss, who had completed the signing of Gwion Edwards earlier in the day.

John said: “We’ve had a good night. Nothing beats scoring goals and playing games and the lads have had a really useful run-out.

“Billingshurst were great hosts and I hope they have got something out of the occasion as well and we thank them for their hospitality.”

Reds fielded 11 trialists with only Connor Essam and Gavin Tomlin, who have knocks, not getting a run-out as JG rang the changes.

He added: “We will probably keep some of the trialists for a few more days next week before making up our mind about them and we will go to Oakwood on Tuesday and mix and match things again.”

A full video interview with John and Gwion Edwards will be available here on Saturday.
