Reds sign goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel on loan

18 July 2014

West Ham stopper joins for a month

Crawley Town can confirm they have signed Swiss goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel on a month’s loan from Premier League West Ham United.

The 21-year-old former Switzerland youth international has been at Upton Park for two years and played predominantly in their under-21 team.

Raphael started his career with Grasshoppers of Zurich as a 14-year-old and had loan spells with two other Swiss League clubs prior to his move to England.

Manager John Gregory said: “We have had excellent reports about Raphael. He is 6ft 5in and a commanding presence in the penalty area and a good shot-stopper.

“He’s learning his trade at West Ham and this is an opportunity for him to gain more experience and for us to have a look at him, initially for the next month.”

Raphael will be in the squad for tomorrow's game against Fulham.
