Squad return for pre-season training

Reds returned to work today with the start of pre-season training.

And it was a much-changed squad that reported back at Oakwood with 11 new faces in the squad, including nine summer signings and young pros Ryan Richefond and Brad Isaacs.

Manager John Gregory, First Team Coach Paul Groves and Niall Clarke, the club’s head of Medical and Sports Science, put the squad through their paces as we prepare for the first competitive test of pre-season which is the friendly at County League Billingshurst on Friday week (July 11).

John said: “The players have had a programme to work to in the last month and we expect them to come back fully fit and raring to go. “Pre-season is always an exciting time, more so this season perhaps as it’s my first as manager of Crawley Town and because we have a lot of new faces.

“More will be coming into the squad as we go through pre-season and it will be interesting to see how the group settles down. With some of the characters we have now I have no doubt that as well as ability we will have a brilliant team spirit.”

The season kicks off on August 9 at Barnsley in League One. “It’s just six weeks away now and our pre-season is tailored to being prepared as well as possibly can for the game at Oakwell,” added John.

“The pitches at Oakwood are in good condition and I know from speaking to all the lads – especially the new boys – that they can’t wait to get stuck in to some hard work.”
