Striker is seventh new signing

Crawley Town are delighted to announce the signing of striker Izale McLeod on a two-year contract.

The 29-year-old joined the club today after completing his medical following his release by MK Dons at the end of last season.

Izale started his professional career at Derby County back in 2002 when John Gregory have him his professional debut.

After two years there he joined MK Dons for the first of two productive spells in 2004. At MK he scored 62 goals in 130 league and cup appearances, which earned him a £1.1m move to Charlton Athletic in 2007.

He scored four goals in 39 appearances for Charlton and had loan spells with Colchester, Millwall and Peterborough before his career took off again in 2010 at Barnet where he scored 36 goals in 74 matches.

That form earned him a move to Portsmouth and 11 goals in 26 starts at Fratton Park. He then returned to MK Dons for a second time and scored 11 times in 53 appearances. There was also a brief loan spell at Northampton last season.

Manager John Gregory said: “We’re really pleased to get Izale here. Throughout his career he has scored goals and coming to Crawley, at this stage of his career, is a fresh challenge, which I think he will appreciate. He’s quick, strong and a lethal finisher. I have worked with him before and know what he is capable of and I'm delighted to welcome him to the club.

"He is a proven goalscorer at this level - something we lacked last season."

Izale will wear the No.9 shirt.

Izale said: “I had a good chat with the manager John Gregory and he sold the ambition of the club to me really well. It’s almost going to be a new team next season and I am looking forward to being part of it and doing what I know best which is scoring goals.”

Izale is our seventh summer signing – with more to come soon according to the boss.

JG added: “We are very confident of bringing in another two new players later this week.”
