Centre back looking forward to League One test

The Reds captured their fifth summer signing today when Sonny Bradley put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Club.

Sonny, who spent last season at Portsmouth following his release from Hull City, is excited about moving up a division following two full seasons plying his trade in League Two with Pompey and, before then, Aldershot Town.

“I think I’ve proved myself in League Two and it’s the right time and I’m at the right age to step up and make a difference for this club in League One”, the 22-year-old said.

“Crawley are a hardworking team who don’t concede many goals. My ambitions with Crawley are to stay fit and play as many games as I can. I want to affect the team and try and finish in the top half of the league, maybe even play-offs, who knows?”

The powerful centre back is already looking forward to working under a manager who is as experienced as JG: “I’ve never played under John Gregory or met any of his management staff before”, Sonny admits. “I’m looking forward to playing under him; he’s managed at some top clubs and is well respected in the football community, so I’m looking forward to the challenge”

Sonny fancies our chances against Championship outfit Ipswich Town in the Capital One Cup first round after the teams were drawn earlier today.

Sonny said: “It’s always nice to draw a Championship side. We can bring them down to Crawley, attract a few fans and try and prove ourselves”.

As we look forward to Wednesday's 2014-15 fixtures being released, Sonny is looking forward to testing himself in League One: “No team fears me or scares me, there’s a lot of northern teams in this league so there will be a lot of travelling and it’s going to be hard work, but I’m definitely up for the challenge and looking forward to it”.
