Joe and Rory on international duty

5 March 2014

Disappointing night for Reds' pair

Defender Joe Walsh and striker Rory Fallon were both on international duty on Wednesday representing Wales and New Zealand respectively.

Joe won his eighth cap for Wales’ under-21s and played the entire 90 minutes as they went down 1-0 to Nathan Redmond’s goal against England in a European Under-21 Championship qualifier in Derby.

Meanwhile, Rory played for the last eight minutes in Tokyo as New Zealand were beaten 4-2 to Japan in a friendly.

The All Whites made a terrible start and were 4-0 down after just 16 minutes. Leicester striker Chris Wood pulled two goals back with Fallon winning his 19th cap in the 82nd minute when he replaced debutant Ryan Thomas.

Both players will return to training on Friday ahead of Saturday’s SkyBet League One fixture at Gillingham.
