Striker links up with Finnish club

Striker Jonte Smith is to try his luck in Finnish football.

The Bermudan has joined Kemi Kings, who play in the second tier of the Finnish League in a 4,500 capacity stadium and are managed by former West Ham and Orient defender Tommy Taylor.

Jonte will stay with the club until June 30 on loan with a view to signing a permanent deal.

Jonte has had two years in the first-team squad at the club and made four appearances, all as a substitute.

Manager John Gregory said: “Jonte’s contract is up at the end of the season so this is a great opportunity for him to put himself in the shop window and get some games under his belt.

“You have to admire him for being prepared to go to a different country to experience different football and we all wish him well.”
