Michael Dunford's latest programme notes

Good afternoon and welcome to today’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Peterborough United.

Due to the late nature of the recent postponements, we were left in a situation where we had gone to print with the matchday programmes and, as you can imagine, that comes at a considerable cost. We came up with a solution so that rather than destroy the 72 page programme, what we’ve done for each of the games against Wolves, Stevenage, Carlisle and Tranmere is produce a 12 page wrap round with updated news and information inserted along with the original programme at the normal price of £3.

We think that it’s fair, and at least by advising you as supporters in advance you have the choice and we hope most of you will think it’s acceptable and that commercially it makes sound sense. Those of you who went to Swindon will have noticed they did something similar.

In terms of tickets for those games, it was right and proper that we had to do something to apologise for the late postponements.

Those supporters who had bought a ticket in advance for the game are able to claim a free ticket for the re-arranged fixtures for Carlisle and Tranmere Rovers, this offer also extends to our season ticket holders and for visiting supporters who had bought a ticket in advance.

We’ve offered our heartfelt apologies and it’s only fair we offer this form of compensation, hopefully we won’t be faced with this situation again.

Whilst John looks towards next season in terms of squad, it’s also the time for season ticket and ticket prices to be announced shortly.

The plan is that all season ticket holders will be written to during the last week of March, advising them on the rates for next season. Once the season ticket holders have that information we’ll make a general announcement at the Crewe game on April 5 and early bird sales will commence from April 14 all the way through to the end of May.

We’ve tried to keep it as simple as possible. The two-tier price system has been dispensed with, meaning matchday prices will be the same as tickets bought in advance. In the past two or three months we’ve had a really thorough review of all prices in our division. Every aspect of this process has taken a lot of time and research but will ensure our prices remain competitive and fair.

I would like to thank everybody who attended the fans’ forum we had with John and myself. It gave us the opportunity to introduce John and I think he handled it extremely well.

He has a friendly manner and certainly has a humorous side about him, which is a good trait to have in this industry. I have another fans’ surgery scheduled for Thursday March 13, if anybody wants to come on a one-to-one basis and talk about any non-playing aspect of the club, then feel free to book an appointment. You can do this by e-mailing suebenn@crawleytownfc.com or by calling 01293 410000.

I would personally like to thank all the supporters who went to the last two away games at Walsall and Swindon for their fantastic backing to the team. I know John and the players really appreciated the level of support. We’re all this together and there’s a long way to go until the end of the season, all John and the team want to do is give a good account of themselves and hopefully push us up the league table.

Keep it Red, Red, Red!
