Joe Walsh collects Player of the Year as Reds celebrate end of the season

It was time to celebrate the end of another season and hundreds of Reds fans stayed on after the final whistle against Bristol City on Saturday for our end-of-season awards.

Defender Joe Walsh scooped two awards for Player of the Season and the Dave Haining Award for most man of the match nominations during the season. The Goal of the Season was won by Mike Jones, who scored from the halfway line in the JP Trophy against Newport County back in October.

For the first time the club also instigated some special awards to honour the unsung heroes who make the club what it is.

They were:

Community award: Maidenbower Juniors
Commerce award: KRL, sponsors of the North Stand
Award of merit: Long-serving steward and Reds' fan Terry Marshall
Family Supporters of the Season (presented by the Supporters Alliance): Carol and Nathan Bates
Supporter of the Season: Ted Covey

In addition, the Supporters Alliance made the following awards on Saturday:

Away Player of the Year: Paul Jones
Young Player of the Year: Joe Walsh
Living Legend: Sergio Torres
