News on our former players

Ex-Reds Scott Shearer and Claude Davis have been released following Rotherham United’s promotion to the Championship.


Goalkeeper Scott played a part in the Millers' consecutive promotions from League Two to the second tier, appearing in almost 40 games for Steve Evans' side.


Claude played 31 times for Rotherham during 18 months at the club. During his time at the Checkatrade.com Stadium Claude was a mainstay in the side and made 45 appearances after joining in September 2011 and departing in January 2013.


Evans’ reward for taking Rotherham into the Championship is a new three-year contract.


In League One, Leyton Orient midfielder Lloyd James has penned a new two-year deal with the O's. Lloyd spent part of the 2011-12 campaign on loan at Crawley from Colchester and the versatile former Southampton man appeared six times before picking up an injury. Lloyd has made 70 appearances for Orient since joining them in 2012.


In the Conference, John Akinde has moved from Alfreton Town to divisional rivals Barnet on a two-year deal. The former Crawley striker, who scored just once for the club – against Shrewsbury Town - during two years with us moved to Alfreton last summer and was their top scorer with 18 goals in all competitions. The move to Barnet sees John move closer to his Kent roots.


Ex-Red Pierre Joseph-Dubois has prolonged his stay with Conference South side Bromley for another season. The attacker joined Crawley from Grays but only spent a season with the club, being utilised from the bench 21 times and starting on nine occasions during the 2007-08 campaign. He was second-top goal scorer in the Conference South last season with 18.


Newly promoted Dover Athletic have offered former Crawley man Barry Cogan a new deal ahead of their return to the Conference. Cogan joined Dover from Reds in 2010 and has been a regular since his move to the Crabble. During his only season at Crawley Cogan made 39 appearances after joining from Grays Athletic.


In Conference North, Danny Hall has penned a new deal with Guiseley. The centre back, who signed for Crawley at the beginning of our victorious 2010-11 campaign, joined Guiseley on loan from Celtic Nation midway through last season before signing on a permanent basis. Hall appeared 17 times for Crawley before joining Forest Green Rovers in a loan deal. He then took in spells with 

Stockport, Hyde and Altrincham prior to moving to Celtic Nation.
