Donation of shirts inspires Worthing United under-12s to title glory!
When Worthing United under-12s wrote to the club asking to borrow some kit so they could compete in the Sussex FA Cup final we went one better and donated a set of shirts to the youngsters.
And we’re delighted to report that wearing the Crawley Town red has brought the team luck as they were crowned league champions recently.
They also made it to the final of the Sussex FA Cup, losing 2-1 after extra time, and the final of the League Cup, which they lost 1-0.
But despite losing their first league game 9-0 the lads under coach Paul Beard went on to clinch the title with a 5-1 victory in their final game.
Paul said: “The club has lots of new young fans in the Worthing area thanks to their generous support. They are immensely proud of their new kit and we would to thank the club for helping us out in this way.”
Chief Executive Michael Dunford said: “We’re delighted to hear that the boys have won their league wearing our shirts. We are the only Football League club in West Sussex and we are always looking at initiatives which can help spread the word about Crawley Town so we were happy to help the boys out and we wish them all the best for the future.”
