What a season for the Girls!

6 May 2014

As the Reds have just completed their campaign so have our Girls section and what a season it has been!

As one of the biggest girls clubs in Sussex, our established age groups have all had massively successful campaigns in the Sussex County Women & Girls League.

The Under-12s, 14s and 16s have all finished as the runners-up in their respective leagues. In addition, all of these teams have made it through to the Sussex County Cup finals, which we still have to look forward to.

The Under-13s currently sit top of their league with one game to play. This is their title decider against their immediate rivals. Between them, these teams have a 76% win percentage.

Our two youngest age groups have also had a cracking season at their first attempts. Their format is slightly different as they played group games to determine a seeding position for the knockout cup. The Under-11s, who were seeded fourth after the group stage, knocked out the no. 1 seeds in the quarter-finals but were hugely disappointed to lose the semi-final on penalties after a dramatic 3-3 draw in normal time.

The Under-10s have had an amazing turn around as the season progressed. Having finished as the lowest seed after the group stages, they went on to beat the top two seeds to earn a place in the County Cup final.

So with four of the six age groups making it through to Cup Final Day on May 11, the Holbrook Club in Horsham can expect a huge red invasion that I’m sure will live long in the memories of the girls and parents.

Come on you Reds!
