Season ticket holder meets players in the changing room before Crewe game

Crawley Town fan Les Savage had a birthday to remember when he met his heroes before Saturday’s game against Crewe.

Les, from Ifield, wrote to manager John Gregory after his family arranged for him to receive a signed shirt and programme when he celebrated his 60th birthday in July.

John wrote back and invited Les to come to the ground and have a look behind the scenes last Saturday including a visit to the changing rooms where he met the players as they prepared for the game.

Les, who has a season ticket in the West Stand, said: “It was a really nice gesture by John and the club.

“He showed me around and then I went into the dressing rooms and met skipper Josh Simpson and the other players and we had some photos taken which was a nice moment. The club really went out of their way and looked after me and it was a wonderful day.”

John said: “People like Les are the lifeblood of this football club. He travels home and away to follow his team and loves Crawley Town.

“He enjoyed meeting the players and talking to them and they enjoyed having him in the dressing room before the game. I hope Les continues to give Crawley Town such great support and I’m sure he will.”
