Man of the match reflects on Crewe point

Man of the match Jamie Ashdown was pleased with how Reds reacted in the second half to earn a 1-1 draw against Crewe at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

But the goalkeeper admitted that Crawley need to find a way of starting games better after he made two crucial first-half saves to prevent Reds from going further behind after George Cooper's 19th minute opener.

Jamie said: "We were pleased with how we played in the second half. The longer the game wore on we looked like the side who were going to win.

"But we have to find ways of starting games better as a squad. The first half just didn't go to plan and we have got to do something about that."

Jamie agreed that the mood inside the stadium improved in the second half when the home fans responded to a much better performance from John Gregory's team.

He added: "It's difficult to rally each other during a game and we needed half-time to regroup. But the second half was fantastic with the fans really getting behind us. We need to give them something to get excited about and it didn't really happen in the first half but when we did they got behind us."

Boss John Gregory confirmed that midfielder Marvin Elliott missed the game because of a minor groin injury but is confident he will be fit in time for next Saturday's FA Cup first round tie away to Yeovil.
