Manager on changes and the new captain
Manager John Gregory has begun an overhaul of his squad by placing five players on the transfer list.
Brian Jensen, Conor Henderson, Lewis Young, Matt Harrold and Josh Simpson have all been made available for immediate loan or permanent transfer, when the window re-opens on January 1.
John said: “We need to freshen things up and I feel the players whom we have transfer-listed will benefit from the stimulus of a new challenge and more regular first-team football elsewhere. We have re-grouped today and we’re looking forward to the challenge we face at Oldham on Saturday.
“It’s never easy making these decisions but I feel if Crawley Town are to progress they need to be made. I am looking at adding a couple of players to the squad in time for the game at Oldham on Saturday.”
John also explained the decision to appoint Joe Walsh as captain.
He added: “Joe is a winner. He’s been captain for much of this season and is the natural choice for me. I think it will add a bit more to his game as well and I’m looking forward to him leading the team with the passion and commitment he shows every time he pulls on the Crawley Town shirt.”
