Defender confident of positive reaction by Reds against in-form Latics

Sonny Bradley is hoping to get another chance to impress at the heart of the defence when Reds go to Oldham on Saturday.

The former Portsmouth and Aldershot player formed part of a back three alongside new captain Joe Walsh and Lanre Oyebanjo in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Gillingham.

Whether John Gregory perseveres with it at Sportsdirect.com Park tomorrow remains to be seen but Sonny is hoping for a long run in the side to prove his worth to the

manager.

He said: “I thought for a long time on Tuesday the three at the back worked well. We had a good team shape and looked solid.

“But we got a bit too deep late on and they were getting a lot of balls into our box. We need to improve our game management but I think the signs are encouraging.”

Sonny recognises the need to bounce back in the league after two cup defeats in four days.

“Absolutely – we need a result for the club, the fans and ourselves,” he added. “Oldham are going well but they did lose their last League game. Does that make it a good time

to play them? Possibly. We won’t go there with any fear and if we can keep things tight I think we can get a result.”

The full interview with Sonny is now on Reds Player. To watch or subscribe, from just 10p a day, click here.
